We understand the immense weight and difficulty of making this decision and that it can be one of the most difficult decisions we make.

Many people have concerns of putting their pet to sleep too soon but in our experience it is rare for people to look back and think they put their pet to sleep too early, but sadly people often look back and feel they waited too long.

It is better to try to plan ahead where possible in order to prevent losing control of the situation and finding yourself in an emergency setting.

It may be tempting to think that it might be nicer for our pet to pass away naturally and take away the need for us to make this decision but sadly to pass away naturally is often not a peaceful passing.

It is our responsibility as their guardians to be strong for our pets and to relieve their suffering when the time comes. We see it as a final act of love for them—a time to show our love and gratitude to them for all that they have given to us.

We believe it is better to say goodbye to our dear friends in the comfort of their own home where they feel safe and happy and where we can do our best to provide them a peaceful passing. We feel it is an honour and a privilege to help your beloved pet on this final stage of their journey and we do this with love and kindness.

One of our vets will visit you in your home where your pet is comfortable, happy, and can be surrounded by loved ones. Our vets are dedicated to ensuring that your pet’s passing is as tranquil and gentle as possible.

They will offer to gently explain the process of peaceful euthanasia to you and will adapt to your situation to enable you to say goodbye to your friend in your own unique, dignified, and loving way.

In most situations, the vet will give a sedative injection to allow your pet to feel calm and relaxed before a catheter is placed. Then when you are ready, the vet will administer medication that will allow your pet to pass peacefully.

Appointments typically last for 30-45 minutes but we allow up to 60 minutes so that people can go at their own pace and say goodbye to their friend in their own unique way.

We advise booking in advance however same day and urgent bookings may be available by making a booking request.

We endeavour to respond to your booking request/enquiry as soon as we can. Please note this can be delayed if the vet is in an appointment or out of normal business hours.

$449 Weekdays during business hours (8:00-5:00pm)

$559 Weekends & public holidays and After hours (Monday-Friday from 5pm and Weekends from 4pm).

If your pet is on medication, it is usually recommended to continue to administer these, especially if they are for pain relief, anti-nausea medication, heart medication and steroid/prednisone medication, as directed by your vet. However, there are some medications that can be reduced or discontinued to reduce pill burden and minimise discomfort.

Please reach out to us for guidance and our vets can advise you regarding what medication you should continue and what medication you can discontinue.

If your pet passes away prior to your appointment or prior to the vet’s arrival we ask that you please contact as us as soon as possible. We understand how distressing this can be and we want to help guide you through this.

You will receive a partial refund for the Gentle Home Pet Euthanasia Service if your pet passes away prior to our arrival, but we ask that you please let us know as soon as possible so we can notify the attending vet. We retain a fee to cover administrative costs, the vet’s time and any losses incurred where this appointment could have been provided to someone else. Fees retained for appointments is $99 and this is to cover the vet’s time.

If you have ordered a Cremation Package we can arrange for the transfer of your pet and  cremation arrangements. An Aftercare Transfer fee applies.

If you cancel your appointment more than 4 hours in advance, you will receive a full refund.

If you cancel your appointment less than 4 hours  in advance, you will receive a partial refund. Fees retained ($99 ) are to cover the vet’s time and any losses incurred where this appointment could have been provided to someone else.

We do offer appointments to pets who can be fearful or aggressive. We ask that you please provide us with ample information about your pet’s temperament so that we can ensure everyone’s safety. Please contact us to discuss further. No surcharges apply.
